Potter, Beatrix: Peter Rabbit and Friends

As I mentioned in yesterday's Music Monday post, Beatrix Potter has long been one of my favorite author/illustrators.  A large book of her lovely stories and pictures was added to my bookcase when I was but three and one half years of age:

It has stayed a favorite, and been through half a dozen moves, my college years, and now I am reading it to my own children.  Here are a few of my favorite illustrations...

From "The Tailor of Gloucester"

Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle was my absolute favorite

Mr. Jeremy Fisher

There are other of her illustrations that I love, but do not yet own.  Like this one of Jemima Puddle-Duck:

Do you have a favorite Beatrix Potter character or scene?

  1. Oh, yes! You have captivated me with Bea's charming pictures at the first! I also own this - it belonged to my children - and as a professional storyteller I have a great quantity of Potter editions. LOVE to read these aloud with all the voices! You might enjoy the cozy mystery series based on Beatrix's life from 1906-1913 by Susan Wittig Albert - The Cottage Tales Mysteries - a delightful series where all the animals talk, too! Google Susan's name and you can't miss!
    Joy!

  2. I particularly loved Jeremy Fischer and have even embroidered him with his big fish.

My oldest adored The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin and we read it over and over and over.

My youngest wasn't so much into Beatrix Potter.

Have you ever seen the BBC production I think there are about twelve stories worked up in some fine animation.

Melissa- I think I have seen clips here and there. I will have to see if I can find the whole thing at the library!
