Grow Your Blog Party Time!!!

Hi!!!
This is a very special post, sending greetings to anyone who may be stopping by from the Grow Your Blog event, hosted by the fabulous and amazing Vicki of 2 Bags Full!

I started blogging 4 years ago- well, closer to 5, actually; my blogaversary is in April!  Cute Gremlin the Younger had just been born.  I only made 15 posts that year.  In 2009 our lives were turned upside down, but I managed to hide it really well for a long time.  I only posted 6 times the whole year, and 12 the next.  Finally in 2011 I decided to jump into blogging like I had never really done before.  It has been AWESOME.  I have met so, so, so many dear and wonderful new friends.  I have used my blog as a way to document and facilitate my newly revived love of hand-written letters/pen pals.  I have been welcomed with open arms into the lives and adventures of other bloggers who inspire me to be a better person, encourage me to live my dreams, and sometimes just make me laugh from my toes!

It's cold outside (at least in the Northern Hemisphere!)!!! So I've decided to host a GIVE AWAY with this Grow Your Blog event, with this peacock colored scarf, lapel pin, and journal as the prize!

Just leave a comment as your entry and I will pick a random winner on Feb. 1st and contact you for your mailing address.

As you read my blog, I hope that you find something beautiful, edifying, cheerful or downright hilarious here that makes you smile!  I've learned so much about blogging, and like to think I have improved over time. (Fewer giant walls of text, for example!) :)

I'm going to visit and follow as many in the party as I possibly can.  If you decide to follow The Modest Peacock, a big HUG and THANK YOU to you!  I can't wait to get to know you all better.  Here's to growing and traveling and learning and laughing with our blogs!

    1. *waves* Hey, Tanya!!! Blogging is the greatest thing, no?! I'm checking in with the bloggers now, and about to curl up with a cuppa tea and my little heater whirring away whilst I write letters. January may not be prime for visiting the beach, but it's shaping up to be a GREAT month so far in this new year! :D

  13. Hello, Missy! ;-)

I joined the blog-hop to grow my crafting blog - seems to be working, so far!

Meanwhile, I do hope you'll be featuring some of your dressmaking here, especially the re-enactment stuff - it's awesome!

    Enjoy the blog-hop!

    1. Thank you, Sue! I want to not only get back to costuming as Lucy Jane and feature the things I make on both blogs, but I want to learn and grow those seamstressing skills exponentially. With the backlash of the emotional mess the last few months (years, if I'm really honest!), it's been hard to push forward and pursue that passion (oh, boy- it's late and I'm throwing alliteration around all over the place!) when my heart's not really been in it. But sweet comments and emails from friends like you help me find the drive again. England and sewing are where my heart truly dwells, and one day I'll finally get them synced up. :)

  14. MML - giant walls of text, but it is true so many bloggers write A LOT. I'm more of a picture gal myself.

Popped in from the Grow Your Blog hop.

  15. Hi Jenny
You know I love your blog. It is thoughtful, it is quirky and it makes me smile.
I have a wall of text over at mine today - but it's a one off for a short story, so I hope people enjoy it anyway! I'll make it up to everyone with some silly pics tomorrow :)

  17. What a great giveaway with gorgeous prizes. Peacocks are so pretty. Years ago we lived in an area that still had older homes with lots of acreage and one of them had peacocks. They were so much fun to watch and listen to. Where we live now there are turkeys but they're plain looking and really dumb. The other day we had to brake for a flock(?) of them running back & forth in the middle of the road because they couldn't decide which side they wanted to be on. Peafowl always seemed much more intelligent.
    :-)
Hope this helps get more followers for you as well. You have a very nice blog.
