Farewell, Maurice Sendak
For today's Illustration Tuesday, it is fitting and proper to honor Maurice Sendak, who died today at 83.
Rather than go on and on about his life, I'm going to link to some excellent articles here and here and just show you a few of my personal favorites of his wonderful illustrations.
“But the wild things cried,
'Oh please don’t go – we’ll eat you up – we love you so!'
And Max said, 'No!'
The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws,
but Max stepped into his private boat and waved goodbye.”
– Maurice Sendak
June 10, 1928 - May 8, 2012
From "Where the Wild Things Are"
From "A Kiss For Little Bear", written by Else Holmelund Minarik.
From "Chicken Soup With Rice"
There are more books illustrated by Sendak that I love that I can't find images for just now. They include:
"And I Mean It, Stanley!" by Crosby Newell Bonsall
Other "Little Bear" books, by Else Holmelund Minarik

Steampunk Opera Overture
This orchestration has been fueling my imagination for some Steam-punk plans. I can't divulge anything else about the project just now, but suffice it to say, listening to this makes it easier for Lucy Jane to design things with leather, gears, and clockwork mechanics! Enjoy.

Happy Star Wars Day
I'm a moderate fan of the genre. Not a geek with collectables, but I can quote pretty much all of the original 3 films. I never got into the prequels. I never even saw Episode 3. I heard people died, and Anakin grew up with a taste for power and black capes, and that pretty much caught me up to Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca. But in the spirit of the day, and because I promised more puns on this blog if I ever got out of the studio (I'm on a 20 minute lunch break now), I leave you with this:

| No, I don't look this pretty while I'm working. :} |
I am feverishly working in the studio.
I have a to do list 3 miles long.
Unfortunately, it all has to be done before I am allowed to blog. :(
Thanks for hanging in with me and I promise I will be back soon and get all caught up.
More Music Monday, Illustrator Tuesday, Video Wednesday and General Mayhem and Nuttiness, plus a few puns thrown in for good measure will return, as soon as these deadlines have been met.
My 10 minutes are up now, so I have to go.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
Hugs!
